Getting Started
Set up JumpTerm and connect to your first server in under five minutes.
Install JumpTerm
Download JumpTerm for your platform from the downloads page. We support macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (x64), and Linux (deb, rpm, AppImage). Mobile apps are available on the App Store and Google Play.
Run the installer and launch JumpTerm. On macOS, drag the app to your Applications folder. On Linux, install the package with your system package manager or run the AppImage directly.
Create Your Vault
When you first launch JumpTerm, you will be prompted to create an account and set up your encrypted vault. Choose a strong passphrase -- this is used to derive your encryption key and is never sent to our servers.
Your vault passphrase is the most important credential in JumpTerm. If you lose it and have no authorized devices remaining, your encrypted data cannot be recovered. We recommend storing a backup in a password manager.
Add Your First Connection
Click the "+" button in the sidebar or press Cmd+N (macOS) / Ctrl+N (Windows/Linux) to add a new SSH connection. Enter the hostname, port, username, and choose your authentication method (password, key file, or agent).
You can also import connections from your existing ~/.ssh/config file by going to Settings > Import > SSH Config. JumpTerm will parse your config and create connection entries for each host.
Connect
Select your connection from the sidebar and click "Connect" or double-click it. JumpTerm will establish the SSH connection and open a terminal session. If the host has tmux running, JumpTerm will offer to attach to an existing session.
Your connection details are now saved in your encrypted vault and will sync to any other device where you install JumpTerm and unlock your vault.
