Device Management
Authorize, verify, and revoke devices that can access your encrypted vault.
Adding a New Device
When you install JumpTerm on a new device and log in, the device generates a new X25519 key pair. Before the device can access your vault, it must be verified from an existing trusted device. Open JumpTerm on your trusted device, go to Settings > Devices, and approve the pending device request. Both devices will display a short verification code to confirm the pairing.
Once verified, the vault master key is encrypted with the new device's public key and transferred securely. The new device can then decrypt and sync your vault.
Viewing Authorized Devices
Go to Settings > Devices to see all devices currently authorized to access your vault. Each entry shows the device name, platform, last sync time, and when it was first authorized. You can rename devices to make them easier to identify.
Revoking a Device
If a device is lost, stolen, or no longer needed, you can revoke its access from the device management screen. Click "Revoke" next to the device entry and confirm. The revoked device will immediately lose the ability to decrypt new vault updates.
After revoking a device, we recommend rotating your vault master key from Settings > Security > Rotate Encryption Key. This ensures the revoked device's cached copy of the old key cannot decrypt any new vault data. Existing data encrypted with the old key is also re-encrypted during rotation.
